How to reference your sources

Why do I need to reference?

Referencing demonstrates that you have undertaken wide-ranging research in order to create your work.

However passing off other people's ideas as your own is known as plagiarism and is a serious academic offence.

To avoid being found guilty you MUST reference your sources

Failure to reference your work may result in your work being penalised

 Always reference when you quote, paraphrase or summarise someone else's ideas in your work
